Nani Roma, María Blasco, and Jorge Martínez lead a day full of inspiring stories

The BCN Sports Film Festival has had an intense day, marked by emotion, resilience, and the impact of sports on people’s lives. With four sessions throughout the day, the audience has enjoyed a wide variety of stories showcasing the transformative power of sports, from personal struggles to the greatness of competition.

The Therapy of Sport: A special session with exceptional guests

The day began at INEFC Barcelona with the special session “The Therapy of Sport”, a space for reflection on how sports go beyond competition: they are also a tool for emotional resilience, redemption, and courage.

The session featured prominent guests such as:
Nani Roma, rally driver and two-time Dakar Rally champion.
Dr. María Blasco, scientist and molecular biology researcher.
Jorge Martínez, creative mind behind the original idea for the short film “Siempre + Positivo”.

The event combined the screening of two productions with a round table discussion, where attendees had the opportunity to hear firsthand about the guests’ experiences and debate the impact of sports on physical and mental health. The session was warmly received, with a highly engaged audience that made this encounter a memorable moment within the festival.

From emotion to the ring: Stories that resonate with the audience

The afternoon continued with three sessions exploring different aspects of sports and their influence on society:

“On Wheels” – Cinemes Girona, 6:00 PM
A cinematic journey taking the audience from mountain trails to the story of a forgotten Spanish cyclist, highlighting the spirit of perseverance and the passion for sports.

“L’émotion” – Institut Français de Barcelona, 7:30 PM
Sport has become a means for the deepest expression of human emotion. From passion to overcoming challenges, attendees experienced truly intense moments on the big screen.

“Stories Behind the Ring” – Cinemes Girona, 8:00 PM
A journey into the world of boxing, featuring powerful stories, including the life of a Basque stone lifter who became the best boxer on the Iberian Peninsula during Franco’s dictatorship.

With a fantastic reception across all sessions, the BCN Sports Film Festival 2025 continues to establish itself as a place where cinema and sports come together to tell stories of perseverance, effort, and passion. The week has just begun, and there are still many more stories to discover!
