Creating a documentary involves creative decisions, but also legal ones. This session, in collaboration with Productores Audiovisuales de Cataluña (PAC), offers a clear and practical overview of the key legal aspects involved in audiovisual production. From project development to the use of recorded footage, archive images and pre-existing works, the session addresses the essential issues needed to work with confidence and responsibility. It will also explore the fundamental rights involved in documentary creation —such as the right to honour, personal and family privacy, and the right to information— as well as other common legal challenges in the creative process. A session designed to provide useful tools for filmmakers and audiovisual professionals.

Cristina Calvet, lawyer specialised in audiovisual and cultural law
