The Red Star Club, created in 1897 in Paris by Jules Rimet, the future founder of the World Cup of soccer, arrived in Saint-Ouen near Paris in 1909 at the same time as heavy industry and its batch of immigrant workers. The Red Star’history follows the transformations of a suburb that was communist for 60 years. Throughout the archives, we see the club’s audience applauding, working, dancing, vibrating, fighting, the city transforming, children growing up, factories disappearing, workers leaving, and fans changing. The film often goes back to the childhood of the nine protagonists, all closely linked to the club. The attachment to Red Star is not a question of prizes, of matches won or lost, but rather a story of emotions. The film wanders through the meanders of the stadium and the city, between the past and the modernity. We discuss soccer, of course, but also literature, cooking, communism, the French Comedy, the Seine-Saint-Denis, as well as the Resistance and kamikazes…
