IGNASI LÓPEZ, WINNER OF THE SPOTSPORT 2025 CONTEST WITH HIS VIDEO “CINEMA I ACCIÓ”
The Barcelona Olympic Foundation (FBO) is pleased to announce that Ignasi López, an animation creator and renowned artist in the field of audiovisual production, has been awarded first prize in the SpotSport 2025 contest with his video “Cinema i acció.”
With this victory, López will receive a €1,000 prize, and his spot will become the official image of the advertising campaign for the 15th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival, to be held in Barcelona from February 17-25, 2025.
About the SpotSport Contest
Organized by the Barcelona Olympic Foundation with the support of the Sport newspaper, SpotSport aims to engage the creative community in producing videos that capture the essence of sports and cinematic culture. This year, the competition received a wide range of high-quality entries that have demonstrated a variety of perspectives and creative techniques applied to the sports world.
A Renowned Creator: Ignasi López
Born in Barcelona in 1970, Ignasi López is a versatile artist with a long career in animation and audiovisual production. Graduating in drawing from Escola Massana in 1994, he has created numerous stop-motion animation productions recognized at international festivals. His filmography includes titles such as Projecte Inbestigadó (2014), Mano Killer(2016), Criaturitas (2016), Viacruxis (2018), and Moscardones (2019), as well as Egoland (2022), a production previously awarded Best Animation at the BCN Sports Film Festival.
Throughout his career, López has accumulated awards in international competitions such as the Bilbao Mendi Film Festival, Festimatge, and the Dutch Mountain Film Festival. These accolades reflect his talent for handcrafted animation and his ability to capture the essence of movement and adventure. His work has been selected in over 40 festivals worldwide, from mountain and sports festivals to animation and auteur cinema events.
The Winning Piece: “Cinema i acció”
With Cinema i acció, López has managed to portray an emotional visual representation of the passion for sports and the power of teamwork. His unique style, marked by stop-motion animation and a combination of visual techniques that add depth and dynamism to the images, has made his work resonate with the spirit of the BCN Sports Film Festival, conveying the message of achievement and collaboration that the festival aims to project in its new edition.
Award Ceremony
The award presentation to Ignasi López will take place during the BCN Sports Film Festival’s opening ceremony on February 17, 2025, where his work and creative contribution to the festival will be recognized, along with the €1,000 prize.
