The curtain falls on the 15th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival… Thank you all for making it possible!

The 15th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival has come to an end after nine days of screenings. From the festival organization, we want to thank all the participants, collaborators, sponsors, media, audience, guests, and everyone who, with your effort and dedication, have made this fifteenth edition possible. With great emotion and satisfaction, we close the doors of an event that has left a lasting impact on all those who had the privilege of being part of it.

This year, we received over 3,000 productions from 89 different countries, reinforcing BCN Sports Film as a leading international festival.

From the exciting festival opening announcement to the final screenings, every moment has been a celebration of cinema, sports, and community. What makes this festival unique is not just sports itself but the values behind every production. We have witnessed deeply human stories, the fight against stereotypes, perseverance, teamwork, effort, and sacrificeā€”making this one of our most complete editions yet.

Eighty one selected films composed the 24 sessions of this edition, screened across 9 different venues: Museu OlĆmpic i de lā€™Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch, Cinemes Girona,Ā  Institut Nacional dā€™EducaciĆ³ FĆsica de Catalunya, Institut FranƧais de Barcelona, Centre CĆvic Bon Pastor, Ateneu Sant Just Desvern, Centre CĆvic Cotxeres de Sants, EUSES – Campus de Salt, Teatre MercĆØ Rodoreda Sant Joan DespĆ.

The festival also has a strong educational component, with thousands of students from Catalonia attending morning sessions at the Barcelona Olympic Museum to explore different global realities through sport. Online screenings remain available until March 30.

We thank the Catalan Institute for Cultural Enterprises (ICEC) and the Government of Catalonia, along with all our collaborators who help us grow and inspire us to establish this festival as a benchmark for culture and sports.

As every year, in collaboration with the Department of Justice of the Generalitat, we have reached Catalan prisons. A special thanks to Laura Ester, Olympic medalist, for joining us at Can Brians 1 as an ambassador for this edition.

Congratulations to all the awarded films! Special mention to “Urtain, el Ćdolo de barro”, by Xavier Baig, Jordi Rovira, and Ɠscar Moreno, winner of this edition. This documentary tells the story of a simple man who experienced great triumphs and crushing failures, molded by the media. “I am an idol of clay, and my potters were you: the press, radio, television… you create, and you destroy,” Urtain admitted. From glory to downfall, all through the ring.

Additionally, we hosted two special sessions: a roundtable with PAC (Catalan Audiovisual Producers), featuring experts like Eva Fontanals and Kathryn Bonnici, discussing independent distribution options.“The Therapy of Sport” session, in collaboration with the Brain Film Festival and the Pasqual Maragall Foundation, with figures like Nani Roma, MarĆa Blasco, Jorge MartĆnez, and Nina Gramunt.

We want to highlight the collaboration and warm reception from the audiovisual industry, as well as the numerous directors and producers who have participated and attended the various festival events, further enriching the experience.

Each session, each film, and each gathering has contributed to making this edition a resounding success. From the thrilling opening ceremony to the screenings of the award-winning films in “And the winners are,” every moment has been a celebration of creativity, talent, and passion for cinema and sports.

Finally, we want to thank all the audience members who took the time to visit our venues and enjoy the selected short films. You are the driving force that pushes us to keep improving every detail. Without a doubt, unity and teamwork have made this new dream possible. We look to the future with optimism and gratitude, knowing that the BCN Sports Film Festival will continue to inspire, move, and bring people together in the coming years.

Thank you all for making this 15th edition possible. We look forward to the next one with even more enthusiasm, more challenges, and more sports!
