
World Premiere of “The Unknown Story” and Huge Success for the Rugby Session at BCN Sports Film Festival
The BCN Sports Film Festival experienced one of its most remarkable moments with the world premiere of “The Unknown Story”, a documentary commemorating 100 years of rugby in Catalonia. Anticipation was high, and the session “Rugby: Identity and Passion” at Cinemes Girona was a full house, proving the immense interest in this production.
The screening was attended by prominent figures from the world of sports and cinema: Ignasi Planas, president of the Catalan Rugby Federation; Carme VallĆØs, representative of Rugby VallĆØs; David Ciurana, CEO of FoscaFilms; Eduard Benet, from Nixiar S.L.; Joan Losada, former Olympic rugby player; Simon Lorenzo, producer of “La HistĆ²ria Desconeguda”; Francesc GĆ³mez, director of the documentary; and members of the Kaito Films production team.
Accompanied by screenings of “Outside Center” and “Just Kids”, this session celebrated rugby as more than just a sport: it is a community, a tool for inclusion, and a way of life.








A Different Perspective: Exploring New Views on Sport
The day began with the session “A Different Perspective” at Cinemes Girona, where the audience explored new ways of understanding sport through personal and introspective stories. Films like “I am Varenne”, “Grace is Water”, and “La gran hazaƱa” provided a deeper insight into the connection between sport and emotion.
Luber Yesid ZuƱiga and Jorge Yesidt Vela, director and producer of La Gran HazaƱa, along with Andrea Montenegro, production coordinator, were present at the session and had the opportunity to say a few words to the audience to introduce the short film.
“The Flame of Paris 2024” and the Visual Magic of Mathieu Forget
At the Institut FranƧais de Barcelona, the session “The Flame of Paris 2024” thrilled audiences with inspiring Olympic stories of perseverance and triumph. A standout moment was the screening of “Levitation”, an artistic piece by renowned photographer and movement artist Mathieu Forget, also known as “The Flying Man”. His unique fusion of sport and dance mesmerized the audience, transforming athletics into a breathtaking visual and poetic experience.
In addition to Levitation, four more productions related to the Paris 2024 Olympic Games were screened. Among them was 1 in 100 million, which highlights refugee athletes overcoming adversity to achieve their Olympic dreams, representing more than 100 million displaced people worldwide.
