Jesi ’39. Ezio is a young man on the run. He reaches a fountain where he meets three little girls who begin to “play” with the tarot cards. Each card is a symbol of a specific episode in Ezio’s story.
From his childhood room to the Zonderwater prison camp in South Africa, an emblematic place where his destiny will be fulfilled. Here the prisoners are engaged in sports. Ezio discovers fencing. Forced detention thus turns out to be the crucial moment of his change. His real birth.
Without an apparent chronological thread, a visionary time journey gradually unfolds. Ezio confronts the nightmares of the past; he reflects in disbelief in his future as fencing master of the greatest national athletes; awakens in a new present. Everything has been accomplished.
Ezio walks among little fencers dueling. One card is down. One of the very young fencers spots her. She takes it. Only she will know which card it is. A new destiny is about to unfold.
