‘LA CUMBRE ES EL CAMINO’, WINNER OF THE 12th EDITION OF THE BCN SPORTS FILM FESTIVAL

The Closing Ceremony of the BCN Sports Film Festival’s 12th Edition, celebrated in the Olympic and Sports Museum Joan Antoni Samaranch, has been the rallying point between the world of cinema, sports, politics and society. David Escudé, Director of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica was the person who awarded the Amphora Barcelona City to this edition’s best film to “LA CUMBRE ES EL CAMINO”, a Spanish production directed by Álvaro Sanz and produced by Álvaro Sanz and Javier Palacios, which narrates the adventure of three boys with intellectual disabilities who decide to break barriers and travel from Albacete to Nepal to walk from Lukla to the peaks of Ama Dablam and Everest Base Camp at 5,600 meters. The award was collected by the director, Álvaro Sanz.

The special award of the jury — formed by Thea Marti, Ukrainian filmmaker; Ramon Alaró, audiovisual technician; Maribel Martínez de Murguía, Olympic champion in Barcelona’92; José Luis Montesinos, director, screenwriter and filmmaker and Lidia Flaqué, general secretary of the Federació Catalana de Natació and board member of the Real Federación Española de Natació – has been for RUN! SHUNZI, a Chinese work directed by Chunliang Zhao and produced by Shanshan Zou. The director Chunliang Zhao has sent a thank you video at the BCN Sports Film 2022.

In this edition, the jury also awarded a special mention to UNDENIABLY YOUNG: NORA YOUNG & THE SIX-DAY RACE, DIRECTED BY JULIA MORGAN, directed by Julia Morgan.

The BCN Sports Film is characterized by the diversity of awards, which this year have been given to:

Award for best Catalan production

MESSI, El DESÈ ART, a Catalan production directed by Jordi Ramos, Xavi Torres and Santi Padró and produced by Televisión de Cataluña – CCMA S.A has received the award from Francesc Terrón, director of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation, Ramon Gener, Xavi Torres, Jordi Ramos, Marc Serra, Eva Fons, Àngel Rufí, Marta Colás, Txus Muñoz and Santi Padró.

Award for best documentary production

LOS OTROS. LA VERDAD DE MÍRIAM,  a Spanish production directed by Jose Larraza and produced by Ander Gómez. Gabi Arranz, Director of Sports Promotion and Events at the Barcelona Sports Institute, presented the award to Gonzalo Balsalobre and David Sanz, the authors of the story.

Award for best fiction film

ASCENSO, a production of the director Juanjo Giménez.

Agustí Argelich, director of the BCN Sports Film.

 Award for best film of adventure sports – ÁLVARO BULTÓ

BALANDRAU, INFERN GLAÇAT, a Catalan production directed by Guille Cascante and produced by Tono Folguera, Guille Cascante, Montse Armengou, Sergi Moreno (Lastor Media, Goroka, TV3). Susana Closa, manager of the Barcelona Sports Institute has given the award to Tono Folguera.

Award “Sport as a cooperation tool”

CHARLIE SURFER, a Norwegian and Irish production directed by Pia Strømme.

Michele Bernardi expressed his gratitude via videoconference.

Award for best animated film

COMEBACK, a Latvian production directed and produced by Vladimir Leschiov, who has sent a greeting for BCN Sports Film 2022.

Mireia Vicente, journalist of TV3 has been the master of ceremonies of this 12th edition of the BCN Sports Film 2022.
