Laura Ester visits Brians 1 to share her experience with inmates as part of the 15th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival

The 15th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival reaffirms its commitment to inclusion and social impact through sports cinema

This year, the festival featured the participation of Laura Ester, legendary water polo goalkeeper and triple Olympic medalist (gold at the recent Paris 2024 Olympic Games), who visited Brians 1 Penitentiary Center to share her sporting and personal journey with the inmates.

A story of effort and resilience

Laura Ester is one of the most prominent athletes in world water polo. After a career full of successes, she is now facing a new stage in life, where adapting to a life beyond elite competition presents both professional and personal challenges. In this meeting with the inmates, she discussed the demands of high-performance sports, the sacrifices and lessons learned, and the emotional challenges of transitioning to a new life.

Sports as a tool for personal growth

Laura Ester’s visit is part of the special sessions of the BCN Sports Film Festival in Catalan penitentiary centers, an initiative aimed at bringing sports cinema and its values to various communities. During the event, films related to personal growth and teamwork were screened, followed by a discussion where inmates had the chance to share their impressions and reflections with the champion.
