Legal keys to creating a documentary: free PAC session at the BCN Sports Film Festival
The 16th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival features a must-attend session for filmmakers, producers, and audiovisual professionals: “How to legally approach the audiovisual creation of a documentary?” A practical activity organised in collaboration with PAC to answer common questions and help you work with legal certainty throughout the entire creative process.
Creative decisions… and legal ones too
Making a documentary involves many storytelling decisions, but also legal considerations that are important to clarify from the start. This session offers a clear, actionable overview of the main legal aspects of audiovisual production: from developing the project to the use of recorded footage, archive photographs, and pre-existing works, with useful tools to work safely and responsibly.
It will also cover the fundamental rights involved in documentary filmmaking—such as the right to honour/reputation, personal and family privacy, and the right to information—along with other common legal issues that arise during the creative process.
