Presented the 14th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival

The BCN Sports Film Festival 2024 is coming to Barcelona from February 19 to 27. The presentation of this new edition took place at a virtual press conference. The event was chaired by David Escudé, President of the Barcelona Olympic Foundation and Sports Councilor of the Barcelona City Council. The event was also attended by Francesc Terrón, Director of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica and Agustí Argelich, Artistic Director of the BCN Sports Film Festival 2024.

The 14th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival was presided over by David Escudé, president of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica and sports councilor of the Barcelona City Council, who explained that this edition will feature 81 free audiovisual productions distributed in 12 different venues. This year, the festival is broadening its horizon; in addition to the Barcelona venues, venues in Girona and Madrid have been added. All sessions will be shown in a mixed format, in person and virtually.

This year, in addition, the BCN Sports Film Festival launches a new official website; completely renewing the design to make a much more intuitive, accessible and functional space. One of the most outstanding parts is the “films” section, where all the information about each selected short film appears: directors, producers, synopsis, images and posters, social networks…

Through https://bcnsportsfilm.org/entradas/ you can access ticket reservations. Access is free, it is only necessary to request a ticket in advance.

The virtual sessions can be viewed through the FESTHOME platform: http://tv.feshome.com/festival/bcn-sports-film, requesting a free ticket on the same platform.

During the event, the playful and educational function of the festival with its school sessions was emphasized. A way to teach that sport is the best tool to transmit values. This edition of the festival has 6 sessions differentiated by age and each one has an educational dossier developed by FilmClub; they will be available until March 30.

Also, as every year, the BCN Sports Film carries out a joint work with educators from penitentiary centers in Catalonia.

For his part, Francesc Terrón, director of the Fundació Barcelona Olímpica, highlighted the number of pieces registered for this new edition, the different venues and their programming. He also thanked the different departments of sports, normalization, justice and management, as well as the sponsors, collaborators and media for their support.

In addition, this year the festival has two special sessions: Starboard, linked to the Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica on the occasion of the celebration of the 37th edition of the America’s Cup to be held in Barcelona. And Match Point, on the occasion of the celebration of the 125th Anniversary of the Reial Club de Tennis de Barcelona.

Finally, Agustí Argelich, director of the BCN Sports Film, highlighted the international character of the BCN Sports Film and the growth of the event in recent years; he also encouraged the public to register through the official website for both the physical and virtual sessions.

The festival is also a meeting with different protagonists of the 82 selected short films. Directors, producers or actors will be present in some sessions to share their stories and present in person their captivating productions.
