BCN Sports Film Festival 2026 has launched its 16th edition today with a professional session focused on a key question for creators and production companies: how can the audiovisual creation of a documentary be approached from a legal standpoint? This Monday, 23 February, the Joan Antoni Samaranch Olympic and Sports Museum hosted the activity, organised together with Productors Audiovisuals de Catalunya (PAC) as part of the festival programme.
The session highlighted the legal aspects that can make a real difference throughout a production’s journey—from the initial concept to distribution and release—covering rights, permissions and good practices to protect both the project and the people involved.

With this first day, the BCN Sports Film Festival reinforces its commitment to supporting not only audiences, but also the sector: training, practical tools and spaces for exchange to foster sports and documentary filmmaking.

The Barcelona Olympic Foundation is launching the new edition of its video competition to promote the 16th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival.
The goal of the contest is to produce an original 20-second promotional video. The winning spot will become the official image of the festival’s advertising campaign.
The deadline for registration and video submission is 30 September 2026.
The winning video will be awarded €1,000 in cash, and its creator(s) will be invited to the opening ceremony of the BCN Sports Film Festival 2027.
