“SOKA. Journey to Kenya with A.E. Ramassà” is a docufilm which, through the intimate and cinematographic gaze of Nath Viktor Film, invites us to experience a journey in which football becomes the universal language of social transformation.
The Ramassà Sports Association (a Catalan club/NGO founded in 1975 and a member of Common Goal and Football for the Goals) travels to Nairobi to work with the KUBUKA NGO and provide sports and school equipment and financial aid.
The camera enters the Kibera neighbourhood, where Ramassà learns about the education and entrepreneurship projects promoted by KUBUKA. The culminating point arrives on 24 March 2024,. when a friendly match at the Nyayo National Stadium against the legendary AFC Leopards, part of the Kenyan club’s 60th anniversary celebrations, ends in an exciting 4-3 scoreline. The journey is completed on the Loita Plains, where the co-existence with the Maasai community reveals the strength of traditions, the connection with nature and the Ubuntu philosophy that emerges around a football. The film ends with a reminder that “I am because we are” and takes a stand for the power of the community, solidarity and sport when it comes to building a fairer future.
