We bring down the curtain on the 14th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival… Thank you all for making it possible!

The 14th edition of the BCN Sports Film Festival has come to an end after eight days of screenings. From the organization of the festival we want to thank all the participants, collaborators, sponsors, media, public, guests and, in short, all of you who with your effort and overcoming have made possible this fourteenth edition. With great emotion and satisfaction, we close the doors of an event that has left its mark on all those who have had the privilege of being part of it.

A new edition in which we have received more than 3500 productions from 87 different countries. Numbers that place the BCN Sports Film as a festival of international reference.

From the exciting announcement of the opening of the festival to the final screenings, every moment has been a celebration of cinema, sport and community. If anything makes this festival unique, it is not only the sport itself, but all the values that emanate from each of the productions that have participated. We have witnessed the most human stories, the struggle against stereotypes, the spirit of self-improvement and cooperation, effort and sacrifice… All this has made this one of the most complete grids.

Eighty-one selected films have made up the 25 sessions of this edition that have been screened in 12 different venues: Museu Olímpic i de l’Esport Joan Antoni Samaranch, Cinemes Girona, Comité Olímpico Español, Institut Nacional d’Educació Física de Catalunya, Centre Cívic Cotxeres de Sants, Institut Français de Barcelona, Centre Cívic Bon Pastor, MUHBA Bon Pastor, Ateneu Sant Just Desvern, Reial Club de Tennis Barcelona -1899, Fundació Barcelona Capital Nàutica and EUSES – Campus de Salt, Thanks to all of them for opening their doors and letting the magic of sport flow!

In addition, the BCN Sports Film has an educational aspect. Thousands of schoolchildren from Catalonia have participated in the morning sessions at the Olympic Museum of Barcelona, where they have been able to enjoy and learn about the different realities of the world through sport. We remind you that the online sessions will be active until March 30.

High quality productions have made up the festival. Our most sincere congratulations to all the awarded films in this 14th edition. In particular, we would like to mention Karim’s footsteps, by Javier Álvaro Palomares, winner of this new edition. A documentary that tells the story of Abdul Karim, the most famous porter of the Karakorum, born in a small village in Pakistan, where the only way to get some money to survive the harsh winters is working on expeditions to the great mountains of the country.

We would like to highlight the collaboration and the great reception of the audiovisual world, as well as the numerous directors and producers who have been part of and have witnessed the various days of the festival.

Each session, each film and each meeting has contributed to make this edition a resounding success. From the exciting premiere of the new website to the screenings of the award-winning films in “And the Winners Are”, every moment was a celebration of creativity, talent and passion for cinema and sport.

Finally, we would like to thank all the public who took the time to come to our venues to enjoy the selected short films. Undoubtedly, union and teamwork have made this new illusion possible. We look to the future with optimism and gratitude, knowing that the BCN Sports Film Festival will continue to inspire, excite and unite people in the years to come.

Thank you all for making this 14th edition possible, and we look forward to seeing you in the next one with more enthusiasm, more challenges and more sport!
